1st XI

Witham 8-0 Oundle U13A

The only eleven-aside match of the season saw Witham put on an impressive display of teamwork. They distributed the ball quickly and efficiently, especially using the wings effectively.

The defence was exceptionally strong, stifling the Oundle attack on almost every occasion. When the ball entered the Witham circle, and the goal was threatened, the goalkeeper was able to clear it comfortably.

The Witham attack was quick, and they scored freely with strong accurate shots and great positioning on the post to sweep in any crosses or rebounds.

This was an impressive display and everyone played an important part in an excellent result.

2nd VII

Witham 3-0 Oundle U13B

Witham 2nds welcomed Oundle U13Bs for their 9th match of the season.

From the start, both teams fought hard and defended well. The breakthrough for Witham came when Eleanor slotted home from close range. At 1-0, Witham kept the pressure on Oundle and it paid off. Before half time, Rose scored two great goals, giving Witham a lead of 3-0.

After the break, Oundle came out fighting, but the Witham defence kept their cool and defended well, with Bunny and Isabella tackling hard and clearing the ball to safety. Witham maintained their wave of attacks, thanks to great midfield work from Gigi and Molly.

In goal, Charlotte had to be on her toes as Oundle threatened with some long-range shots. The final whistle came and the game ended 3-0 to Witham. A super effort by both teams and an entertaining game all-round.

3rd VII

Witham 4–1 Oundle U13C

The 3rd VII were ready for action after their difficult game the week before, they were determined to win this game and fight hard against a strong Oundle team.

Matilda and Daisy, led the way and led by example with them displaying some excellent skill and commitment.  Isabelle, Shivali and Izzie worked the ball nicely through the channels, which enabled Witham to have clear shots at goal.

Witham scored quickly, with Matilda’s drive through the middle, to the attacking goal, with a magnificent strike, resulting in our first goal.

In a tightly packed defence, Rosie, GK, Emma and Matilda prevented any Oundle players through to the goalmouth. They tackled hard and countered by pushing the ball to Witham’s attack.

Oundle responded with a strong strike, which goalkeeper Emma first saved, and then Oundle followed up with another strike. Witham fought back and scored another goal just before halftime to make the score 2-1 to Witham.

The second half was filled with excellent teamwork and accuracy. Oundle scored no more goals, whereas Witham scored a further two goals by Izzie and Daisy, bringing the final score to Witham 4, Oundle 1.

A great game from start to finish. Well done to all the team and thank you to all our parents for supporting.

Witham Hall 3-1 Laxton

The U11B hockey team started slowly against Laxton. The first 3rd was very much dominated by Laxton who scored from a penalty corner.

Witham had their chances, but unfortunately, our opponents proved too strong for us to equalise. After a quick team debriefing, the girls went back onto the pitch for the 2nd third determined and focused.

The girls played a much higher standard of hockey in this third and quickly scored. A second and third goal quickly followed with their opponents unable to intercept the ball from the faster paced passing that the girls showed. With confidence riding high, the girls enthusiastically played the final third, but the possession was once again fairly even between both teams.

The girls are to be commended for showing determination and great teamwork winning the match, 3–1. Well done girls.
