U10 Hockey Regional Finals

10 May 2019

On Sunday, whilst many of us were enjoying the bank holiday and a slight glimpse of sun, Georgia H travelled to Nottingham Hockey Centre to play for the Leicester U10 Hockey Club at the Regional Finals.
After 6 pool matches, they were placed at the top of their group which qualified them for the semi-finals. The team kept up the hard work and won the semis 1-0, qualifying them for the final.
Here, after a very hard fought match, the score ended up as a 0-0 draw meaning the teams had to face a sudden-death penalty flick. Unfortunately, on the 23rd penalty flick, the opposition just managed to win the shoot out and left Leicester to finish the finals as runners up.
This was not only a very successful day for the team but Georgia as an individual too. Over the tournament, she scored a very impressive 10 out of the 13 Leicester goals and also converted 2 out of 4 of her penalty shots. It was a long and tiring day, but Georgia played a huge part in her team's success and should be very proud of her personal achievements. Well done Georgia!
