1st VII v Worksop College

Witham 9 – 0 Worksop

After almost a three-week break, the senior girls were a little rusty at their training session in preparation for the match against Worksop College. However, after the disappointment of IAPS, their hunger to continue their outstanding inter-school performances was extremely clear. Within seconds of push back the girls were penetrating the Worksop D, and within just minutes Mollie D had found the backboard to put us into the lead. Some impressive passing allowed our attack to flow, and, with Worksop constantly chasing the ball and some accurate and fast passes from all members of the team, Lilia D soon put two more past the keeper; one being a particularly impressive deflection to the top of the goal. Shivali P found herself in the perfect position in the D to sweep in the fourth goal of the game before half time.

A few flat minutes following the half time break saw Charlotte W make her one and only required save of the game and Matilda H be called into action in defence, but Captain Millie A is not one to sit back and let the opposition put on any pressure. With some fantastic movement in the midfield and linking play between channels, she scored a hattrick to make the score 7-0. Lilia D also slipped the ball past the keeper with ease and it was time to make some changes. Bunny B took a turn up front and, despite our focus being on maintaining possession, their instinctive desire to always perform at the top of their game saw Bunny slap the ball with impressive pace past the keeper. Despite attacking for the last few minutes, the Worksop keeper played incredibly well, the final score remained 9-0. Well done to Eliza M who was awarded Player of the Match, and to Alexandra B and Shivali P for stepping up and representing the 1st VII.

2nd VII v Oakham School

Witham 5 – 3 Oakham School

The 2nd VII girls played against a strong side, away at Oakham School. The first half was very even, with both teams entertaining a number of opportunities at goal. Witham took the lead, after some excellent channel play from defence   through to attack. The girls passed with confidence and battled hard to win back possessionShortly after, however, Oakham gained possession and scored twice. Witham fought back, and another goal just before half time brought the scores level. The second half was very much the same, as possession went both ways. With the scores level, Witham fought hard to win the ball in defence and found space to provide the forwards with opportunities to score. Witham scored another two goals and won the match 5-3. A great game, with Witham showing belief, confidence and huge improvement all round. Congratulations to Ellie-Bella who was awarded Player of the Game for Witham. Well done and thank you to all our parents who supported.

2nd VII v Worksop College U13B

Witham 9 – 0 Worksop College

The 2nd VII girls travelled away to Worksop College to play their U13B side. Buoyed with confidence from their previous game against Oakham they started the first half with energy, skill and accuracy.  Within two minutes of the game starting, Witham scored, followed by three more within the first ten minutes. The forward and mid players; Izzie, Isabelle, Millie D, Poppy, Shivali and Alexandra passed the ball with true confidence and used the width of the field, which was super to see. Defensively, Emma at GK covered all angles and stopped all the shots at goal, with Lydia, Rosie, Ellie-Bella tackling hard to win possession to then feed the midfield. At half time, Witham were six goals ahead with Worksop yet to score. Witham played a further ten minutes before the final whistle, the scores ending 9-0 in Witham’s favour. Witham played a great, consistent game and dominated throughout.  Congratulations to Ellie-Bella, who won player of the game for Witham for a second time and thank you to all those who supported.

3rd VII v Worksop College U13C

Witham 6 – 0 Worksop

From the start Witham dominated this game, the girls moved the ball effectively down the pitch and had numerous shots on target. When the ball came into Witham's defensive half it was dealt with efficiently, as defence quickly turned into attack. The Worksop goalkeeper was kept very busy but she was unable to stop many of the well-placed attempts which resulted in a resounding win for Witham.
