Anglian Schools County Cross Country Championships
Three Witham pupils competed at the Anglian County Cross Country Championships, running for Lincolnshire against teams from Norfolk, Suffolk, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire at Witham Country Park, Boston, on a very blustery sunny day.
Eliza M lined up first for the start of the Year 8 and 9 Girls’ 3,100m race, where there were 80 girls running. Eliza showed great courage and determination and finished in a fantastic 14th place.
Alexandra B was next to run in the Girls’ Year 7 race over 2,050m, Alexandra showed great commitment coming a very creditable 24th position.
The final runner was Jack B in the Boys’ Year 8 and 9 race over 4,000m, where there were 80 boys competing in the race. Having not trained a great deal Jack showed impressive commitment and endeavour to finish in a very good 34th place.
All three Witham competitors showed fantastic determination and commitment in a very high standard event and were a credit to the School.
As County Champion, Eliza automatically qualifies for the National Schools Finals at Sefton Park, Liverpool on Saturday 14th March, with Jack having a chance depending upon a selection meeting. Unfortunately, there is no National Round for Alexandra’s age group.
A very successful event, with much enjoyment for pupils, staff and parents.
