Fenland League Cross Country at Burghley Park

20 Mar 2020

Eight Year 7 and 8 Girls’ and Boys’ competed at the Fenland Cross Country League Meet at Burghley Park in Stamford. When the girls lined up for the start of their 2.1km run, there were over 60 girls running in the race. Each Witham girl showed fantastic determination and commitment, but the stand out performances were from Eliza M, who ran a perfectly paced race to record a magnificent first place and Alexandra B who, a year young, came a fantastic fifth place. The results were as follows:
Eliza M 1st, Alexandra B 5th, Rose A 16th, Millie A 17th & Matilda H 22nd
The boys then competed over a 3.4km course, again with over 60 runners. They too all ran well, but found conditions testing. The stand out performer was Jack B who ran a great race to record a magnificent first place. The results were as follows:
Jack B 1st, Angus M 27th & Harry P 38th
A very successful event, with much enjoyment for pupils, staff and parents.
This was the final race of a series and the results are combined to produce the overall results, which we eagerly await. An excellent ‘Senior’ cross country season with an abundance of success. All the girls and boys competing have shown the Witham spirit and committed themselves fully to the cause.
Congratulations to Eliza M and Jack B who thoroughly deserve their selections to represent Lincolnshire at the English National Schools Championships.
