A fond farewell to the Welch family
12 Jul 2020
The end of term signalled the end of an amazing 11-year tenure at Witham Hall School for the Welch family. Emotions ran high as the Chairman of Governors highlighted the incredible impact Mr and Mrs Welch have made during his End of Year Assembly speech, before pupils, parents and staff said their fond farewells.
During his speech, Mr Sharman reflected on his final governors meeting and equated his time working with Mr and Mrs Welch as 'like standing at the non-strikers end, watching a masterclass of an innings'. He then went on to list their amazing achievements, such as the improvements of facilities including the Sports Centre, Icehouse Play Area, doubling of the Prep Building along with many others, through their drive for quality. Equally, he touched on their greatest legacy, the character of the 600 pupils they've tirelessly and meticulously nurtured during their tenure, by helping to 'build their lives on rock and not on sand'.
The Welch family will be very much missed at Witham, but they leave the School in an amazing shape with numbers set to be their strongest. We wish them every happiness in their new roles at Uppingham School.
