Worksop College Cross Country Competition Witham Senior Boys win team event! Leo Cox wins whole U13 boys’ competition!
05 Mar 2015
Witham Hall entered 3 teams into the Worksop Cross Country this Tuesday. The U11 boys were first to run in their 2000m race with over 70 competitors. Ewan Rodell stormed across the finish line over taking two boys in the last 15 metres to place 3rd. Harry Gillet came in second for Witham, closely followed by Oliver Allport.
The U13 girls’ race was next; unfortunately we did not have enough girls to enter the team event due to netball commitments but our three runners competed as individuals. Anya Batty did a superb job, a strong finish after 2500m meant she placed 6th, in 10.41, but unfortunately trophies only went to the first 5 in! Ella Turner did a sterling job coming 13th; considering both of these girls are U12 this is a very strong performance. Maria Morris also ran a great race and captained her team well on the day.
The final race of the afternoon coincided with the snow beginning! Luckily our senior boys are made of tough stuff and every one of them made a superb effort. Leo Cox led his team in placing 1st in a time of 13.15 around a 3500m course (averaging a 6.5 minute mile!). Hot on his heels was Rori Rodell in a superb time of 13.25 and matching his brothers 3rd place trophy. Archie Smith-Maxwell came in 3rd for Witham in 14th, closely followed by Joe Fox and then Geordie Irvine. The team effort of these boys meant we can now add the U13 boys winning trophy to our cross country cabinet!
It was a fantastic effort from all, many thanks to Miss Rafferty for her help and well done to all of the competitors.
