House Spelling Bee

06 Mar 2015

On Monday evening (2nd March) parents, pupils and staff attended the Inter-house Spelling Bee Grand Final in support of the twenty finalists who were nervously awaiting their turn on stage to represent their house with their spelling prowess!

The audience were hushed, awed and perched upon the edges of their seats as they watched the final rounds play out.  The words were tricky to spell, especially for the senior year groups who had to spell them out loud without the option of writing them down!  Mrs Marie was a little kinder to the Year 4s and Year 5s who were given mini whiteboards to use, but even still, the children were understandably wracked with nerves throughout, as their spelling abilities went on display for all to see.

We are incredibly proud of all our finalists, and they deserve heaps of praise piling upon them, but particularly the five 1st place finalists: Richard Tomlinson (Banks Y4), Ella Chandler (Banks Y5), Will Robertson (Lyons Y6), Eshan Mehta (Lyons Y7) and Isaac Barrow (Tate Y8) – well done to each of them!!  Lyons House came 1st overall, followed by BanksMaitland and then Tate!
