NSEA Arena Eventing Competition
In a rare representative sporting fixture, Ava and Clara headed off to Vale View Equestrian Centre to take part in the NSEA Arena Eventing Competition in December.
Ava started the day off on Greendown Ozzy, who popped round the 75cm course to finish in a very respectable sixth place. Clara then took over the Witham Hall baton in the 95cm class on her two ponies Enzo and Uno. The ever dependable Ferrari Enzo made the course look easy, but Clara in a bit of ring rustiness after lockdown, kept the handbrake on her pony and, unfortunately, incurred a few time faults to finish outside of the placings, but a lovely round nevertheless. Clara then took the reins on her new pony Uno, who only arrived three days beforehand. Unfortunately, a slight lack of communication between them meant that they jumped a wrong fence and got eliminated, but before that were jumping beautifully and look like a very exciting combination for the future.
So unfortunately, no qualifications for Hickstead this time around, but it was lovely to be out riding for the School again, despite the bitter weather conditions. The girls were a real credit to the School and rode brilliantly, especially given that they were both the youngest competitors in their respective classes.
