Senior Boys' Hockey update

30 Mar 2021

It was brilliant to have all the Senior Boys back for Hockey in the final three weeks of the Lent Term. The focus was primarily on getting all pupils back into the game and more importantly, playing a team sport together. A large focus was placed on match play and this incorporated the Inter-house league which ran over two Wednesdays. The first Wednesday saw Lyons dominate proceedings; a real highlight was the wonderful team play, where Lyons moved the ball early and effectively around their opponents. In the second round, those who performed strongly early on found the going a lot tougher. Maitland who possessed a strong starting seven started to find their stride and won three games in a row. Tate and Banks had mixed afternoons, winning, drawing and losing. With a late flourish though, Maitland were deserved winners of the Senior Boys’ Inter-House Hockey competition. All of the Years 7 and 8 Boys should be commended for their efforts and I speak on behalf of all coaching staff when I say it was a pleasure to coach them and have them back up on the Astro.
