The U11A netball team showed the flair and spirit at Rugby that has led to them doing so well in their matches and winning though to the Nationals this term. They were placed in a group with 5 other teams; they won four of these matches in some style but were thwarted by Berkhamstead, a team that at times just took U11 netball to a new level. However, the game also took the Witham player’s netball to a new level. It was thrilling in the first half as the girls managed to remain competitive and made attacking chances count only going down by one goal at half time. After this, the girls still tried hard but found that even when they made a good interception (and pleasingly they made quite a few) they just couldn’t then get the ball away.

This led to Witham being placed 2nd in their group and going through into the top Cup Competition. In this they found themselves against the winners from the other group, a feisty Milton Keynes team (who had also won through to the National Finals the other week). Witham were tormented by a very tall GS who never missed and went down quickly in the first 5 minutes. A change of positions at half time meant that the second half was far tighter with Milton Keynes only winning this half 2-1.

The final result of the competition was Berkamstead 1st; Milton Keynes 2nd and Witham and Bedford joint 3rd. Well done girls and thanks to all our supportive parents, so many of whom made the trip to Rugby.
