What a fantastic day was had at Hill Top Farm at the weekend. Bell Bell was so welcoming to all the children and organised such a fun and well run event.

In the first class we were competing against 8 other school teams from 9 schools (some schools fielded multiple teams, others combined in a single team).  Each team consisted of four riders, with the 3 best scores to count.  We were competing against riders from Brooke Priory (3 teams), Stamford Junior (2 teams), Laxton Junior, Wellingborough School, Copthill, Fairfield School, The Peterborough School, Stoneygate School and Maidwell Hall.  Sadly Frankie Atkinson could not make it, as his pony had gone lame, so we only had 3 team members to run - therefore all their scores had to count!  Amazingly all our team members did both an initial clear round, and then clear again in the timed jump-off - as a result we came second!!!

The second class now went up to 75cms with some spooky fillers, and some very upright planks on a downhill turn.  There were now 7 other teams, with riders from Brooke Priory, Ratcliffe College, Maidwell Hall, Stamford Junior, Laxton Junior, Wellingborough School, Stoneygate, Fairfield School and The Peterborough School.  Our team members now included Rory Pepper, taking us up to a full team of 4.  This didn't go quite as smoothly as the lower class, but all did some very good riding considering the size of the course. Rory's pony jumped huge over some fences, George was very calm under pressure and did some very quick turns in the jump off.  Harriet kept her sometimes strong pony under excellent control, and showed some very experienced riding, and Sienna did all 4 jumping rounds and only knocked off one pole!!  The jump-off then went up to 80cms, and we all went clear - which considering all the competitors were 11 or under was pretty fantastic!  We came fourth!!

A huge thank you to our chef d'equipe Peter Hales (BHSI), who gave up his time for two team training sessions and his morning today to help prepare the team and walk the course. His expertise has been invaluable and we felt very well prepared.

Thank you show jumping team for working so hard on your turnout - both your boots and your ponies looked immaculate!
