Witham Hall riders compete at National Schools Equestrian Association Event at Keysoe
02 Jun 2015
Witham Hall entered a team into the highly competitive National Schools Equestrian Association event run by Wellingborough School at the College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe, Bedfordshire on Thursday 28th May.
The Witham Hall School team comprised of Cecily Hopkins (11), Harriet Anthony (10), Anya Batty (11) and Sienna de Gale (10). Witham were the first team to go of the 10 schools competing, the best three scores counting from each team. The Witham Hall team had three lovely clear rounds from Cecily, Harriet and Sienna, with some quick times in the jump off, which was good enough for them to come 1st, winning The Peter Ebdon Show Jumping Trophy beating Wellingborough School into 2nd place and Bedford Girls into 3rd.
Witham were also placed in the individual competition, with Harriet & Cecily sharing 5th, Sienna 6th, and Anya receiving the prize for the Best Turned-Out Pony. The prizes were awarded to the team by International Show Jumper Daniel Delsart.
The next class saw even more schools competing in what was a higher class, but once again the Witham team performed very well, with lovely double clears from Cecily and Sienna, and just 4 faults in the jump off for Harriet. However it was still good enough to see them placed 6th out of the 17 schools competing (9 full teams and 16 individual entries): Winchester House came 1st and 2nd, Uppingham 3rd, Bedford Girls 4th, and Kimbolton 5th.
Congratulations to all the girls on great riding, good team spirit and wonderful turnout, well done.
