Witham Hall Invitational Cross-Country Meet: U9 Girls win team trophy!

Witham hosted 9 other schools for our annual cross-country competition. Wth between 50 and 60+ children in each race, plus all of the parents and staff, our campus was rather full! The U9 girls’ race was first, running just over 1k. Matilda had a superb run and was first across the finish line for Witham Hall A in 3rd. Not too far behind in 8th and 9th were Millie and Lilia respectively. Next in was our second youngest in the team, year 3 runner Millie making a fantastic effort and placing 19th. Rose came in 25th with our youngest runner Alexandra doing very well against some much taller competitors to place 26th. Then the U9B team started to cross the line; Rosie, then Mollie, Tilly and finally Bunny. All of the girls made a fantastic effort and the U9A team even managed to clinch the top spot in the team event!

Our U9 boys also did very well running over 1.41K, Henry led the way placing 3rd against a competitive field. Jack just missed out on a medal placing 7th and Arthur ran in 10th for Witham Hall A. Toby came in 13th and just behind him was Angus with an outstanding run for a year 3 in 15th. James placed 23rd for the B team, with Oscar just behind for the A team. Following on were Henry, Freddie, Archie, Harry and Hugo. The A team placed 2nd in the team event and weren’t far off the top spot.

The next race was the U11 girls who ran the same course as the U9 boys. Kimbolton had a very strong team, taking places 1 to 5! Ffion managed to get a medal in 6th position in 10.51 with Sienna just behind her in 8th. Bonnie and Josie did very well to come 10th and 12th respectively.  Daisy did incredibly well coming 18th for the B team just ahead of Georgina, Matilda and Gigi in 19th, 20th and 21st. Eleanor came 25th with Rose, Bella and Emma not too far behind. The A team had a great score of 36 in 2nd with the 3rd place team receiving twice the amount of points! The B team also did very well indeed placing 5th out of 11 teams.

The final race of the day was the U11 boys who ran just over 2k. The top 8 runners were all from either Bourne Westfield who had some fantastic runners, or Kimbolton. Oliver, Louis and Charlie had some healthy competition between them but finally placed in 9th, 10th and 11th respectively. Alex was our next boy in, 21st, just before three of our B team runners, Felix, Jake and Kit, who came in 27th, 28th and 29th. Joe and Ludo came 32nd and 33rd for the A team followed by Sam and Ben for the B team. With such strong runners from Bourne Westfield and Kimbolton the A team did well to place 3rd with the B team coming 8th out of 12 teams.

It was a superb afternoon with all of our runners doing their very best and representing the school impeccably; many thanks to all of the supporters, runners and helpers on all of their hard work throughout the afternoon.

Brooke Priory Cross Country Competition: U9 Boys win team trophy!

A fantastic afternoon of running by all the Witham team led to some very impressive results. Pleasingly all the boys and girls gave it their all around an undulating course, which certainly challenged even the more advanced runners. The children particularly enjoyed the hay bale climb and water barrel jump! After giving it their all, it was wonderful to see all the children willing each other on towards the finish line for a well-earned drink and the occasional Haribo. The U9 Boys did particularly well, coming first overall in the team event and were closely followed by the U10 Girls and Under 10 Boys, both of whom came 2nd in their team events. A big thank you must go to all the parents who came to support the children throughout the afternoon and to those parents that came with their U7 boys and girls to experience cross country competition for the first time in the ‘Fun Run’!
