Report from Alconbury (11TH October)
Witham Hall were represented at the Houghton & Huntingdon Riding Clubs Annual Hunter trial on Sunday 11th October. Two Year 7 girls, Cecily Hopkins & Harriet Anthony competed in the pairs competition. There were 14 pairs entered, and both children & adults competed against one another. Cecily and Harriet were the youngest in the class and both had a superb clear round but were just outside the placings.
Report from Bloxham (11TH October)
Saturday - an early start! Aston Le Walls is the most fantastic venue for the Bloxham School Eventer Trials series. This was our first try at this discipline, and it was very challenging!
A full set of show-jumps came first, then immediately on to a very complicated cross country course, all on a fantastic surface. No mud, no studs. Cecily was first to go from our team on Pepper.
They went round at a good pace, with Cecily managing to ride round, coming 11th individually. George went next - he and Shaney are getting together really well, and he finished a superb 6th.
Sienna was last to go, and with a very smooth clear round she opted to jump a big joker at the last fence, but sadly the pole rolled. It was a good strategy, and if it had paid off she would have won!
Nevertheless, they came 5th individually, a brilliant achievement for Sienna's first competitive cross country round.
We are still waiting to hear where we came in the overall school placings; Cheltenham LC, Swanbourne, St Hugh’s, Bloxham and Bilton Grange were all taking part in our section, with 28 riders.
We will keep you posted. We look forward to our next one on 14th November!
