Equestrian - Keysoe NSEA Competition – 22 November
23 Nov 2015
Witham Hall placed 3rd at Keysoe NSEA competition (70cms)
We were competing against senior schools, with teams from Bourne Grammar, Kings Ely and Uppingham and individual entrants from five other schools, so we were once again the youngest competitors at this event. The course consisted of a round of 70cm indoor showjumps, followed by a separate course of cross-country jumps outside. We had no opportunity to walk the course, so our team had to watch other riders and guess their lines!
George Rowley was certainly the youngest rider at this very competitive competition and he rode a stunning round on Shaney, sitting like a pro between fences 5 and 6 when Shaney was a bit uncertain of a particularly spooky house-shaped jump, to complete a lovely clear round cross-country, although he picked up a couple of faults in the showjumping. Cecily Hopkins rode a good showjumping round with the forward-going Pepper, and had a lovely smooth ride over the cross-country, marred only by a misunderstanding over the start that sadly was interpreted by the judges as a refusal. Sienna again rode her two ponies to make up a team of 4 rounds: Dennis had one pole down in the showjumping section then whizzed round clear cross-country, while Lunarbug did two excellent, rhythmic rounds, giving him 6th place individually out of 22 competitors, and placing Witham Hall 3rd in the team competition.
