King Lear team visit the Key Theatre, Peterborough

26 Sep 2014

The cast, band and crew of King Lear took to the stage at the Key Theatre in Peterborough today in preparation for our performance there in October.  Working with professional actors and the team from the Shakespeare Schools Festival, we performed excerpts from our play and did vocal and physical exercises.  Isabella Manara and Piper Dallimore had a meeting to discuss marketing and backstage and Geordie Irvine and Alfie Buik met the Head Technician and had a tour of the lighting box.

We also met another school that will be performing with us and watched them perform scenes from their play, The Merchant of Venice. They were really supportive and told us how brilliantly they thought we performed our scenes.  We gave them positive feedback and even shared our biscuits with them.  The workshop leaders were full of praise for our young cast and impressed with all the hard work that we have already done.

Being in the venue and performing on the stage was very exciting and we all realised how different the experience will be from our regular school plays at Witham Hall.

The play will not be performed in school. To book tickets for Witham Hall’s production of King Lear on Wednesday 15th October at 7:00 pm, please call the Key Theatre Box Office on 01733 207239. Online booking is available at http://www.vivacity-peterborough.com/event/shakespeare-schools-festival39965?tab=1#unit-production-dates but please note that our performance is on Wednesday 15th October.
