Equestrian – NSEA at Arena UK (70cms)

15 Dec 2015

Another 6am start for all of us! There were 40 teams in our class, with strong teams of secondary schools, including The Minster School, The Banovallum School, Kesteven & Sleaford High, Belvoir High, Worksop College, Ratcliffe College, Stamford High, KGGS, Bourne Grammar, QEGS Horncastle, Queen Elizabeth Grammar and Elizabethan Academy! We had a good day. The course consisted of the first 7 fences ridden at your own speed. If these 7 were clear you were then able to ride straight into the 2nd phase of a timed section, till the finish after fence 13. All our competitors took the course walk at 8am, and were excellent at remembering their lines. Well done team, I am proud of you all!

·         Harriet Anthony did a stunning and very well ridden clear round, which was fast and precise, individually coming 14th.

·         Sienna rode Dennis with determination: this was her last competition with her lovely pony Dennis, as he has now been sold to his new home and will be moving in January.

·         Jemima Foljambe, taking part in her first inter-school competition, did a very quick, clear round on Kitty, to come individual 10th.

·         Anya Batty had her new ride Charlie: he was quite spooky as it was a testing course, but Anya managed to ride him well, building a good foundation round for their future events together.

·         George Vergerson-Rowley rode another good round on his beautiful young pony Shaney, with 4 faults at the first fence: unusual for Shaney, but again with some wide spreads and substantial fences this young combination coped very well.

·         Sienna rode a solid controlled double-clear round on Lunarbug her new pony, consolidating on their new partnership for next season, and coming 15th individually.

Roll on 2016: we look forward to representing Witham Hall School next year.  The team looked super smart in their new  Witham Hall Equestrian Team Jackets!!
