Year 1 Are Out of this World

04 Feb 2016

There was a bus full of excited budding astronauts as we arrived at the National Space Centre in Leicester on Tuesday.  We were met off the bus and escorted into the massive building, where we were put into groups to explore all of the space exhibits.  We saw parts of rockets that had actually been into space, Helen Sharman’s space suit as well as a Soyuz capsule, similar to the one Tim Peake went up in to the International Space Station.

The children were delighted to see the gigantic rockets that dominate the surrounding skyline and to play in mission control and a rocket capsule.  The day was rounded off by watching a presentation of “Night and Day” in the Sir Partrick Moore Planetarium, which was fantastic.

We all had a brilliant day and the children were exceptionally interested in everything that was there.
