Year 3 and 4 Visit Flag Fen!
25 Feb 2016
On Thursday 25th February, Year 3 and 4 enjoyed a fascinating visit to Flag Fen. The children handled and identified real artefacts from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages. They particularly enjoyed learning about a ‘hot stone’ which was used to boil water quickly. The children also made their own Roman pot out of clay, decorated using shells and other natural materials. In the afternoon they had a tour of Flag Fen and learned about the plants and animals which would have been useful for the Celts. They also saw the recently excavated logboats which were being preserved using wax and the site where the Celts would offer their most valuable goods to the gods. The highlight of the visit was sitting in the round house listening to a story about a magic sword!
