Witham Musicians perform at Uppingham Orchestral Day

03 Mar 2016

Last week 33 of our musicians represented Witham Hall at Uppingham’s famous annual Orchestral Day for Prep Schools. We worked hard with the Uppingham music staff, and at the end of the day we performed in a superb concert which also featured Uppingham’s own Swing Band (starring Angus Cooper, OW, on trombone!) The string players presented an atmospheric version of Scarborough Fair, followed by an energetic performance of the William Tell theme by Rossini. The wind players stormed through Happy and Uptown Funk in a boisterous manner, and the concert was brought to a stunning close with a medley of tunes from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, arranged by OU composer and teacher Ben Wingfield. Our two drummers, Max and Archie, were featured prominently in this last piece, particularly in the funky Benjamin Calypso section! Well done to all the performers – you did Witham Hall proud
