County Chess update
07 Mar 2016
Eight children from Witham represented Lincolnshire in the recent round of Midlands Chess matches. The competition was very tough, several opponents we had to face were of international standard and, as a team, Nottinghamshire are the current National Champions. Johnny Gretton and Harry Spragg played in the Under 9 team which finished fifth overall, whilst Alex Spragg, Sam Smith, Hamish Gordon-Stewart, Richard Tomlinson and Kit Parkinson played in the Under 11 team that came fourth 4th, thereby just missing out on the medals! Shivali Patel enjoyed an excellent day, an individual score of 3 out of 3 helped the Under 11 team to secure 2nd place.
The school now has 11 players across the various age groups who have played for their county this year, a tremendous achievement, well done everyone.
