The Wind in the Willows
23 Mar 2016
A schedule that began way back in September culminated on Thursday and Friday evenings last week with two magnificent performances of The Wind in the Willows by a 70 strong cast, involving children from Years 4-8.
Beautifully unwrapping some timeless themes of friendship, loyalty, hospitality and an unhurried way of life, the production carried the highly appreciative audiences on a journey to the river, through the wild wood, in and out of cars and jail and onto the simplistic or lavish homes of the main characters.
Notable for the engagement of the whole cast for long parts of the performance, the cast and both backstage and technical teams deserve great credit for bringing the story alive in such absorbing and entertaining fashion. The musical numbers continue to be heard across the school now!
Congratulations to Director Mrs Dawn Holland on the success of her first major production at Witham, and also to Musical Director Ms Miriam Forbes, ably supported by OW Jack Lee. Sincere thanks to the significant number of parents who supported the production in so many different ways, likewise the large number of pupils who, in undertaking vital support roles, assisted their peers on the stage in such superb fashion. It truly was a whole school triumph.
