U11 Rounders Report

06 May 2016

U11A:

The U11A team have already made much progress since the beginning of term and in the last ten days have enjoyed wins over Bedford Girls and Northampton High. Their batting skills are gradually becoming more consistent and their throwing is gaining strength. Well done to Lulie for her nomination as team Captain and Ella as vice-captain. Thank you to all the parents for their cheering and support.

U11B:

Bedford Girls School  26

Witham Hall                   11

The U11B Rounders team had a tough first match of the season. Despite some good fielding our opponent’s batted strongly in both innings. Maddie Bryars bowled well and showed herself to have a safe pair of hands when she caught a batsman out. Jemima Moldon-Curran, supported by her deep fielders was able to dismiss a number of players at 2nd post. Gigi Granger, Isabella Beattie, Jemima Foljambe, Sophie Marshall, Maddie Bryars and Arabella Nolan all contributed to the rounders scored.  The girls’ understanding of the rules and tactics of the game developed over the course of the match, resulting in a much stronger performance in the 2nd innings. Well done girls and thank you to all the parents for coming along and supporting. Final result 11- 26

The Peterborough School U11A  13

Witham Hall                                       18

There was a strong performance from the U11B Rounders team on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon. Witham batted first and quickly scored a couple of half rounders. As confidence grew so did our batting total with many full rounders being scored. Our opponents panicked on a couple of occasions allowing us to take advantage and increase our batting total further. We ended the first innings with a total of 13 ½ rounders. Peterborough had a few strong hitters but with tight fielding and a super catch from Jemima Moldon- Curran we kept their batting total to just 5 ½ rounders. Our second batting innings was not quite as strong but we added another 4 ½ to our initial total. Peterborough, on the other hand, came back strongly and scored another 7 ½ rounders. After a very enjoyable match, Witham won 18 – 13. Very well played everyone and thank you to our parents for watching and supporting.

The Peterborough School U10A  16

The Witham girls played a great match enjoying their first win of the season. The match was close. After the first innings the girls were down by half a rounder but by the end of the second innings they managed to show great team work in the field and excellent batting and overcame their opponents to win by a rounder and a half. All the girls showed confidence in their batting not having anyone who didn’t make it to first base. With great communication and ball skills the girls got four players out in the first innings and five in the second. Well done girls, you should be very proud of your efforts.
