Year 5 Little Genius Quiz winners visit to Rutland Radio

09 May 2016

A terrific part of the winning prize for the Year 5 pupils was a visit to the Rutland Radio station to see how everything works.

We were met by Rob Pasani, the breakfast DJ who organised the whole Little Genius Quiz. The children were eager to learn everything about being a radio DJ and how Rutland Radio operates. There were some excellent questions, from ‘Why did you want to become a radio DJ?’ To, ‘How do you manage to speak so quickly and confidently without a script?’

The children were given the opportunity to choose their own song on the radio in between their live broadcast (the recording can be heard using the mp3 link on the school website). I am certain the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience of speaking into a large microphone so they could be heard by thousands of listeners live on breakfast radio.

All of the children were a credit to Witham Hall and were especially thankful to Rob Pasani for showing them how a radio station operates – there might be some future radio DJs among them and Rob encouraged a continued effort with their English studies if they wanted to become a radio DJ.
