Junior Maths Challenge Success
26 May 2016
The Maths department are celebrating a bumper set of JMC results this year as 19 of the 35 children who sat the challenge achieved a certificate for their efforts – those achieving a certificate are among the top 40% of mathematicians nationally. The results were as follows:
Gold – Eshan Mehta, Robert Tombs
Silver – Rori Rodell, Noah Cooper, Oscar Fowler, Ned Chatterton, Archie Smith-Maxwell, Ben Marshall, Sacha Howells, Vyvyan Bewley, Will Robertson, Oliver Allport
Bronze – Will Pepper, Geordie Irvine, Alfie Buik, Will Chandler, CallumWass, Alex Spragg, Felix Starkey.
Well done to all of the above on an outstanding achievement.
Additional congratulations go to Robert Tombs who not only achieved a Gold certificate but also scored highly enough to qualify for the Junior Maths Olympiad – a follow on round to the JMC which only the best 1200 pupils in the country qualify for. Robert is the first pupil since Jack Capstick-Dale in 2010 to qualify for this round; Jack was in year 8 at the time and has since gone on to sit Maths and Further Maths A-Levels at Eton. Robert, in year 7 currently, looks to have a bright mathematical future ahead of him.
