Tillie wins National Archery title!

07 Jul 2016

Tillie Craven has enjoyed a very hectic start to the summer holiday with two significant Archery Championships.

Metric National Championships - Saturday 2nd July

Tillie competed in the Metric Fita Archery National Championship in the Under 12 Compound section.  This comprises of shooting at 4 different distances 30m, 20m, 15m & 10m.  Conditions were tricky with strong gusty winds making shooting difficult. Tillie  finished in second place, 16 points behind the winner.

Imperial National Championships - Sunday 3rd July

Tillie competed in the Imperial Bristol 5 Archery National Championship in the Compound section, shooting at 30yrds, 20yrds and 10yrds.  After 4 dozen arrows she was two points in the lead with every arrow a 'gold', in the centre.  In the next dozen arrows, one of her arrows missed the centre gold by only 2mm dropping her two points.  After quickly getting over this disappointment Tillie went on to get all the rest of her arrows in the centre gold, 143 arrows out of 144.  This resulted in a total score of 1294 out of a possible 1296.  This score was 2 points off the National Record and enough for Tillie to be awarded first place and National Champion!

This completed a superb 6 weeks in which Tillie managed to win the Lincolnshire County Archery Championships for Under 16 and then finish second in the East Midlands Regional Archery Championship for Under 16, both in the compound section.

Superb achievements, well done Tillie!
