Witham Hall Senior Girls Hockey Tour 2016

15 Sep 2016

The Witham girls set off on their annual hockey tour to Suffolk in high spirits on Friday ready for a mixture of matches and team building. On route to our stay in Ipswich, we stopped off to play King’s Ely School where the squad worked extremely hard in four quarters to leave comfortable victors. After a huge meal out for Mia’s birthday and a restful stay in our hotel, the girls certainly filled up on the breakfast ready for the long day ahead. At the beach, the girls were immensely proud to succeed in a human pyramid on the first time of asking but were unfortunate to be out shone by Mr Gent during what can only be described as an epic mini golfing performance. After another huge meal of fish ‘n’ chips on the beach front, we travelled to Orwell Park for a friendly tournament and overnight stay. The girls played some impressive hockey all afternoon, all gathering much needed experience. However, there is certainly plenty to work on. In the evening the girls proceeded to have fun on the Orwell grounds with a very interesting football match resounding as the particular highlight. On the Sunday we all travelled to Colchester Zoo where the aim seemed to be to find an animal that looked like Mr Gent. Unfortunately for him, every animal seemed to be ‘Mr Gent’ with the Chimpanzee apparently claiming the most similarity!

The girls really were an absolute pleasure to take on tour. Their maturity, commitment, politeness and team work certainly made it a very enjoyable tour for both of the staff and the girls’ thoroughly deserve the accolades from this weekend.
