Uppingham on the Buzzer Quiz Competition

17 Nov 2016

The annual Uppingham on the Buzzer competition never fails to fill the Year 6 children with excited anticipation. Witham has been supporting this event since 2012 with one or two teams. The standard of general knowledge among the teams is quite incredible. The format of the competition follows a similar idea to University Challenge whereby the quick fingers press a buzzer to answer a starter question followed by three bonus questions.

It was unfortunate that our two teams were not that speedy at pressing their buttons this year because we were beaten in the quarter finals of the main competition and came 5th in the Plate.

Despite the disappointing result, I was very proud of the children for their terrific representation of Witham. They were humble in defeat and displayed excellent behaviour throughout the afternoon. I knew them to be knowledgeable pupils so it is simply a case of processing the answer more quickly next time, especially for future House quizzes.

Well done.
