Witham Hall Cross Country

Once again the Witham Hall Cross Country team showed fantastic determination, effort and enthusiasm at the Witham Hall Invitational event. With more Witham runners entered and representing the school than in recent years, it was brilliant to see so many keen athletes.

Stand out performances came from Angus who placed first in the hotly contested U9 boys’ race, with Thomas coming in 3rd beating 45 boys who were a year older than him! Both boys contributed to a great team effort by all, placing 2nd in the team event.

In the U9 girls race Alexandra led the way fantastically, placing 3rd, with Rosie coming in 7th (also a year young!). Similarly to the U9 boys, the wonderful team effort of everyone resulted in a 2nd place in the team event.

There was some very tough competition in the U11 girls’ race, with two Stamford girls placing 1st and 2nd! Josie was fighting hard though and won herself a 4th place medal. Gigi and Matilda (a year young) did superbly placing 8th and 10th respectively.

The U11 boys’ race was the most controversial of the day with a slight mishap taking the front runners off track. Despite this Jack came out a shining star, showing fantastic sportsmanship and determination, and taking 3rd place. Charlie was right on his heels coming in 4th, and Henry Farmer in 7th. The brilliant team effort resulted in a 1st place trophy in the team event, which is even more impressive when you consider that both Jack and Henry are a year young for the U11 category!

It was a brilliant day, with every single runner achieving on the day, and representing the school to the highest standard. Well done to all involved, including the wonderful hares, marshals, hosts and helpers.

Brooke Priory Cross Country

There was great excitement when 45 Witham Hall runners travelled to Shorne Hill at Brooke nr Oakham for the annual Brooke Priory Cross Country event. The runners ranged from Year 2 up to Year 6. The runners all showed fantastic grit and determination completing testing courses.

There were some outstanding Witham results, the highlights being:-

Under 8 Girls: Rosie was placed 2nd & Millie 5th with the team 2nd in the team event.

Under 8 Boys: Thomas was placed 1st, Ben 2nd and Alfie 3rd a brilliant clean sweep for Witham which also earned 1st place in the team event.

Under 9 Girls: Alexandra was placed 6th.

Under 9 Boys: Harry was placed 5th.

Under 10 Boys: Jack was placed 1st and Henry 5th with the team 1st in the team event.

This was a tremendous afternoon with every runner giving their all and achieving the best possible placings and being great ambassadors for the School. Once again there was brilliant parental support for which girls’, boys’ and staff are very grateful.
