Saturday 3rd December - Eventer Challenge at Keysoe (Hickstead Qualifiers)

06 Dec 2016

Class 70-75 cm

Team

  • Cecily Hopkins on Kilmore Prince
  • Lottie Sharman on Topaz
  • Jemima Foljambe on Kitty
  • George Vergerson-Rowley on Shaney

The children all walked the course very carefully as there were over 18 jumps to remember and some very challenging lines. First to go was Cecily who rode a very determined round but picked up an unlucky 4 faults, next to go was Lottie who again rode a very determined  round with 4 faults, next up was Jemima who jumped a foot perfect clear. George was last to go and rode another foot perfect round. There were over 10 schools competing in this class.

The team were placed 2nd and thereby qualified for the 80cm Eventer Challenge at Hickstead later on in the year. A huge achievement!

Class 80- 85cm

Team

  • George Vergerson –Rowley on Shaney
  • Millie Ludiman on Ziggy
  • Jemima Foljambe on Kitt
  • Cecily Hopkins on Landis

Our luck was not so good for this class! Millie’s pony had to be withdrawn as he was poorly and Jemima's pony was lame after the first class. First to go was George who pulled a perfect clear round. Next was Cecily who produced a perfect clear round. This was a strong class with over 40 children competing.

Individual Placing

  • Cecily Hopkins – 8th
  • George Vergerson-Rowley -12th

Sunday 4th December - Showjumping at Keysoe (Windsor Qualifier)

Team

  • Millie Ludiman on Ziggy
  • Harriett Anthony on Charlie
  • George Vergerson-Rowley on Shaney

Unfortunately Millie’s pony was still under the weather so we did not have a team and as this class was only for teams, we thought we were not going to be able to compete. However, the organiser very kindly let the children jump but obviously with no placing available. George and Harriett walked the course together making the odd comment to each other - ‘It’s big, it’s wide!’ George was first to go and did a very stylish clear round with his pony Shaney was making it look easy. Next to go was Harriett, who had never jumped a course this big, she did an amazing job and also got a perfect clear round. It was a shame we did not have a full team for this class, as no positions were given for individuals.

Well done everyone for competing and a special thank you to Millie for coming along and supporting us all even thought she was unable to ride.
