The annual national Key Stage 2 Quiz Club competition – Regional stage
10 Feb 2017
Another year passes and yet again this eagerly anticipated and highly coveted event on the school calendar did not fail to produce the high quality questions and fierce competition we have come to know and expect.
Two teams of four pupils (Luke Wilson, Angus Mackay, Atan Hussain and James made up team two and Kit Howells, Harry Spragg, Angus Gordon Stewart and Richard Tomlinson made up team one) were selected from the Witham Hall year group competition round. Both teams did themselves very proud. It was the closest contest in five years of attending. In fact Witham team one ended up only five points behind the eventual winners, Bedford. The questions ranged from 40 to 100 points, and it came down to the last question to decide the winner.
There were, as you might expect, some very tough questions but our team answered 75% of the 40 questions correct. The aim was to work as a team to select the correct answer from four multiple choice options in order to gain maximum marks. Both Witham teams worked incredibly well; team one reaching a very high score of 1885. It is possible this score is good enough to be a high score runner up to reach the semi-final.
It was a real pleasure to take such committed teams who were fabulous ambassadors for Witham Hall.
I would like to thank our parent supporters.
