U11B/C v Wellow House A
Witham Hall – 10
Wellow House – 1
A mixed U11B/C team played against Wellow House and from the first whistle Witham dominated play. Witham had the first centre pass and the girls executed the routine beautifully and the ball travelled smoothly from the centre court to our GS (Charlotte) who converted her first attempt. With confidence high the girls worked well together letting our opponents little opportunity to get their teeth into the game. By half time the score was 8 – 1. With a comfortable lead it was a good opportunity for the girls to play different positions. They continued to move into space, mark tightly and think about their role within the team. The final score was 10 – 1 to Witham. Very well done girls.
2nd/3rd VII v Lincoln Minster 1st VII
Witham Hall – 9
Lincoln Minster – 15
Witham made a really strong start against a tall and athletic Lincoln Minster A team. In the first quarter the passing, dodging and shooting from Witham outshined Lincoln; Katie scored 3 and Sienna 1, with Lincoln scoring 2. The second quarter took a dramatic turn for the worst as Lincoln really found their stride and scored 7 goals! Witham were now 5-9 down and had to dig deep to pull it back. Jemima was outstanding in GD, intercepting most of Lincoln’s play and distributing the ball well. In the end Lincoln were the stronger side, but our girls worked really hard and played well considering they haven’t played together before – really well done.
2nd/3rd VII v Wellow House 1st VII
Witham Hall – 14
Wellow House – 9
This was a lovely game played in good spirit between two evenly matched teams. The main difference between the two sides was the standard of shooting by Mia and Jemima in the third quarter, where Witham out scored Wellow by six goals. The whole team put in great efforts with a few players playing in unfamiliar positions. The passing was accurate dodging positive and marking tight. A great performance by everyone.
U9 v Wellow House U9
Witham Hall – 22
Wellow House – 2
On Wednesday 1st March the U9 Girls Netball team travelled to Wellow House School. We had a large team of 10 players which allowed us to rotate positions and have rest periods. Witham got off to a strong start in the first quarter with some fantastic goals scored by Alexandra, taking the team into an 8-0 lead. The start of the 2nd quarter was greeted with a fire alarm which resulted in the game being suspended and the buildings being evacuated. After a period in the fire assembly point, the sports hall was given the all clear and we returned to complete the next 3 quarters. Some excellent shooting by Lydia and Alexandra, along with strong passing into the circle from Sammy, Millie and Poppy took the Witham team to a 22-2 victory. Some good defence work from Ellie-Bella also prevented the opposition from scoring. Well done girls. Throughout the game the team worked hard on using hand signals and finding a space as opposed to crowding and shouting for the ball. Something to keep working on girls.
