Equestrian Success for Cecily

31 May 2017

Cecily Hopkins represented the School in The National Schools Two Day Event, held in the glorious grounds of Princethorpe, College Warwickshire in association with Kingsley School. This event is the only Two Day Event in the country so competitors came from far and wide with approximately 60+ competitors from 18 schools including Cheltenham Ladies College, Oundle, Bromsgrove and Downe House.

The first day was the Dressage and Show Jumping,  followed on Sunday by Roads & Tracks (this is an optimum time over 6k) then Steeplechase, after which there was a vets inspection before embarking on the Cross Country section over 20 technical fences. Cecily produced her best dressage test ever scoring just 25.5 penalty points, which was the best score in the class of 60 competitors and she was awarded a trophy for best dressage. Next came the Show Jumping, where all went superbly well until knocking down the last pole, incurring 4 penalties. On the second day, the Roads and Tracks and Steeplechase were all completed with zero penalties and a fantastic clear over the Cross Country course!

As a result of the penalties, Cecily slipped to third place,  but nevertheless a fantastic result in her first competition of this sort. She was presented with an additional trophy for third.

Well done Cecily!
