The U11A team had a lovely overnight stay in Ipswich on the Sunday night, in order to arrive at the tournament feeling fresh and energised ready for the tournament! The girls got through the group stage relatively easily, despite some strong opposition. The biggest competition came from Stephen Purse who kept us to 0-0 despite Witham having the majority of the possession. Wellingborough gave us a great game of end to end hockey which ended up going to Gold Goal! Luckily after pilling the pressure on at a short corner Matilda found the backboard. This put us through to the semi-finals against OBH who had a tenacious defence. It was 0-0 after full time and after Gold Goal, which meant we faced the dreaded penalty shuffles! Millie and Rose both did a great job scoring their goals, and Charlotte was phenomenal in goal after not touching the ball all day, she charged down their attackers and saved both goals. This meant the U11As had won themselves a place in the National IAPS Finals! Their final challenge of the day was for the title of Regional Champions and the girls did themselves proud once again, beating the Stephen Purse School 1-0 before full time. It was a fantastic effort by all and thank you very much to our committed parent supporters!
