Heavily Decorated GB Archery Star Inspires Witham Pupils!

03 Nov 2017

Witham welcomed Danielle Brown OBE, along with the Mintridge Events Team, for our inspiration ‘Enrichment Day’. Years 3 to 8 had a specialised session with Danielle where she spoke all about her journey, achievements and challenges, as well as teaching the children some archery.

Danielle spent her entire international career as world number 1, winning gold in two consecutive Paralympic Games and three World Championships. She also accomplished something that very few disabled athletes manage when she transitioned onto the able-bodied team. 2010 saw her become the first disabled athlete to represent England in an able-bodied discipline at the Commonwealth Games, where she took the gold medal in the team event.

Our very own archery star and national record holder, Matilda, was thrilled to have lunch with Danielle. We very much hope to see her follow in Danielle’s footsteps. Thank you very much to the Mintridge Team and Danielle for what was certainly a very special and unforgettable day.
