British Modern Biathlon Championship Finals
27 Nov 2017
On Saturday 25th Matilda, Jack and Eliza travelled to a very cold Solihull for the British Modern Biathlon Championship Finals.
Jack set off first completing the 800 metres in a time of 2.35.87. Slightly outside his qualifying time but a good effort nonetheless. Clearly he saved it up for the swimming as he completed 50 meters in 39.08, one of his fastest times of the year. All in all, Jack ended up in 11th position, a fantastic effort and pretty consistent with his previous rounds.
Next up was Matilda who posted a time of 2.53.30 for the 800 metres and 0.42.61 for her swim. In the Under 11 category the difference between 15th and 45th places, Matilda’s eventual position, was a matter of seconds. A very pleasing return for her, after some hard work and a very determined attitude.
Finally came Eliza with strong family support in the U12 category. After last year Eliza reached the heights of 6th position and this time she was hoping to gain a podium place. After her run time of 2.39.97 she was well placed to do so and was certainly in the mix of top rankings. Her swim, which was such a tight race, she posted 0.32.77 which mean that she ended up in 4th place overall. An utterly remarkable achievement and bettering her effort from last year.
An excellent day and Witham was very well represented indeed. We are all looking forward to Crystal Palace in the New Year and always hoping to recruit some new Biathletes. Many thanks to parental support on the day and in the previous rounds. It is very much appreciated.
