U10A Hockey WIN Leicester Grammar Tournament!

27 Nov 2017

The Under 10 girls travelled to Leicester Grammar on a very blustery day. The first round was against Fairfield, the prep school for Loughborough High; the girls started strongly and played some excellent hockey. The game was evenly matched and ended in a one all draw. The positioning of everyone on the team against Stoneygate was impressive and the ball moved quickly and efficiently down the pitch resulting in two well worked goals. The final pool match saw a very emphatic victory over Copthill ensuring that Witham were pool winners.

The final was against Ratcliffe College winners of pool two. Both teams started confidently and played some impressive hockey, the ball travelling quickly down the pitch. An excellent individual goal from Georgia broke the deadlock and settled any nerves resulting in some strong attacking play which enabled Millie to score the second and decisive goal. The team were crowned tournament winners, which was richly deserved. In goal Clara and Kitty made some important saves, Kitty with one at chest height. Rosie was very solid in defence clearing danger efficiently. Poppy became more confident with each match supported by Ellie-Bella in mid field. Alexandra made some strong runs keeping the ball well under control. Lydia supported her team well crossing the ball into the D when playing on the wing. This was an excellent all round performance which all the girls should be very proud of.
