Witham Hall’s Soap Box Derby!

18 Dec 2017

DT Club have been working very hard all term, building their Soap Box Derby Racers!

The ‘Karate Carrots’ built a stream lined carrot shape chassis, complete with carrots and Bugs Bunny on board, recording a fastest time of 43 seconds.

‘Scrub-a-Dub-Dub’ splashed down the race track in just 38 seconds, with water balloons flying at their opposition, and looking very comfortable in dressing gowns and shower caps in their bath tub racer. They also had a fantastically catchy song for their performance!

Next to fly down the track was ‘The Grinch who stole our Soap Box’ in a speedy time of 36 seconds. This sleigh racer was lit with Christmas lights, a wonderful dance routine, and a very eye catching design.

The final racer was a fairy-tale twist, as ‘Goldie Locks and the Three Bears’ hurtled down the track in an astonishing 24 seconds! The team flew along with a fur lined seat and a most original design.

Race day was a fantastic climax to what has been a most productive and exciting term of DT with over 40 children from across the prep school contributing. None of this could have been achieved without the expertise of Mr Dickens in the work shop and Miss Corner in design – thank you both.
