Making a splash at the IAPS swimming gala

13 Mar 2018

Three Witham pupils travelled to Stamford to take part in an IAPS Qualifying Swimming Gala. Over 3000 pupils participate across the UK in various qualifying galas and all the times swum by every competitor are then collated centrally. The top 16 swimmers for each event qualify for the National Finals, held this year at the Olympic Pool in London on 9th June. Eliza was first to swim in the Under 11 25m Butterfly, winning her heat in an outstanding time of 15.69 seconds. Next up was Josie in the Under 12 25m Butterfly. She swam very competitively with bags of effort, finishing second in her heat in a very good time of 18.58 seconds. Jack then swam in the Under 11 50m Freestyle and came a very respectable third place in his heat in a good time of 37.57 seconds, showing commendable fighting spirit and stamina. Well done to all three swimmers, who were a joy to be with and represented Witham amazingly at a very well-run event.
