The Year 2 classes are taught by Mrs C Ferdinand and Miss J Hope. They enjoy a full range of subjects which are taught within topics such as The Plague and the Great Fire of London, Inventors, Food Technology, Recycling, Seaside, Bog Babies and Robin Hood. We enhance the children’s learning by making trips outside the school environment that are appropriate to some of our many subjects such as Rutland Water Nature Reserve and Stibbington Education Centre. We welcome in visitors such as Father Andy, Mrs S Patel and the Partake Theatre who are based in our region.
The pupils also have the opportunity to join in with after-school clubs such as Bushcraft, Yoga, German speaking, Games, Fitness and Running, Judo and Short Tennis. Some enjoy attending the specialised music lessons for piano, guitar, drums, drama and singing.
During this year each child is encouraged to develop their social, emotional and intellectual skills and we aim to increase their independence within the school environment as the children begin to take on more responsibility for their learning. The emphasis remains on enjoyment and building on the child’s natural interest in learning.
