Wellbeing

Central to our ethos at Witham Hall is ensuring that every pupil feels a sense of belonging, security and stability at school and within themselves. Each pupil is valued as an individual, and the development of character is of equal importance to academic progress. ‘The Witham Way’ underpins our values where pupils are encouraged to be their best self, to treat others how they wish to be treated, to share, to listen, to forgive, and to respect all members of the community.

My son has felt supported and nurtured. He has grown immensely over his time here.

We are a small community that knows every child, but support, care and guidance begin with the Form Tutors (Prep) and Class Teachers (Pre-Prep) who are responsible not only for the pastoral care of pupils but also for ensuring good communication between school and home. In addition, every pupil is a member of a mentor group which they stay in throughout their time at Witham. This provides each pupil with a member of staff who knows them incredibly well as they move through the School and also gives older pupils the opportunity to be role models for the younger members of this smaller pastoral group.

Boarding and the House System make up the other layers of pastoral care, with members of full-time staff involved in both elements. The wrap-around care, breadth of opportunity and community spirit help to build confident, self-assured pupils who are able to flourish as individuals.
